Gem stone colors are as varied as flowers. They are available in every color of the rainbow and many stones come in more than just one color.

Gem stone colors and natural designs vary depending which part of the world it is found.

The most common cause of color in gemstones is the presence of a small amount of a transition metal ion.

But not all gem colors are produced by transition metal ions. In some gemstones, the colors are produced by the presence of foreign atoms with a different number of valence electrons than the ones they replace. These foreign atoms are called color centers.

Color can affect us in many ways. They can affect our moods, create physical change, and invoke emotional response. Different colors can make us hungry, content, excited or calm.
