THE JUBILEE DIAMOND
JUBILEE DIAMOND (JUBILEE O REITZ)
Weighting 650,80ct, this big diamond was found in 1895 in the Jagersfontein mine. At first it was called Reitz, in honor of Mr. F.W. Reitz, president of Orange State.
In 1897 it was named Jubilee, because it was a reminder of Queen Victoria's 16th anniversary of head of the England's kingdom. Many gemologists believe the Jubilee, 245,35ct, is the best well cut of the big diamonds.
The Jubilee can be seen at the DeBeers Pavilion in Johannesburg.
